The dissertation

Designing the NOLUGGS Platform: A Design Science Study of Luggage-Free Travel and Clothing Rental for Carbon Footprint Reduction

Global Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), International School of Management (ISM), Paris/New York. Supervised by Dr. Bernhard Kölmel. In progress; expected defense March 2027.

How the study works

Design Science Research builds an artifact and evaluates it against the problem it is meant to solve. Here the artifact is the NOLUGGS platform itself.

  1. 01 · Problem

Checked baggage adds weight to every flight and friction to every trip. The study treats the suitcase as a design problem, not a given.

  2. 02 · Design

NOLUGGS is built as a working platform: travelers plan a trip, receive outfit proposals, and have clothing waiting at the destination.

  3. 03 · Demonstration

Successive prototype versions are put in front of real travelers, and each version records what changed and why.

  4. 04 · Evaluation

Each evaluation episode tests the artifact against stated objectives, including usability, trust, and the carbon logic behind luggage-free travel.
